This is one of my favourite pictures ever. That tiiiiny dot is Earth from BEYOND Pluto. That’s us! Everything we love, everything we are, in that tiny ass spec. It’s a few years old now (22 years I think?) but it still blows my mind. That is us from about 4 billion miles away. The spacecraft that took it, Voyager 1, is now 10 billion miles away… faaaar into interstellar space. My mind can’t even comprehend the fact that it’s passed all of the planets in our Solar System and is now wandering around the rest of Space. Imagine being on it? The things you would see, passing the giant that is Jupiter and being so close you could see it’s huge storm swirling around. I look at this picture and feel so lonely, thinking if I was on Voyager 1, how far away from home I would be. But it’s SO amazing that something WE made is billions of miles away … just wandering around.
